Birthdays!

What is a birthday?

Yes it is the day that you came into the world, and yes it is the day that your parents saw you for the first time, but is there something more to it?

I think that a birthday is a more personalized new years day. On new years day we celebrate the start of a new year and we look back on our mistakes and accomplishments and we try to make our life better for the upcoming year. Well technically new years does not represent a new year of life unless your birthday is on January 1st. ( Do you get what Im trying to say) Say you were born on December 16th, well when new years rolls around on January 1st and you are supposed to celebrate a new year, you are technically not celebrating a new year because you have only been alive for less then a month. On your birthday you are celebrating the birth of another year. This is the true date in which you should reflect on what you have accomplished in the past year of your life. This is the date where you can distinguish your old self from you new.

This is why birthdays are so special. New years is the celebration of a new year for everyone in the world, but a birthday is the celebration of new year for just you! There is a date and time for everyone that can specifically represent that persons first day of their own year. Every celebration of this date symbolizes a new you and a chance to be a better person then you were the year before.
